I know I’m sad. Only I could get excited at the thought of a new piece of hardware waiting for me at home. Well it’s goodbye Netgear and hello Linksys.

#VAUK10 – What a difference a year makes!

Posted by DeeVAS on Jun 17, 2010 in News | 3 comments

On Friday 11 June, I began my journey to the annual VA Conference and Awards 2010, which was held at the Forest of Arden, Marriott Hotel in Birmingham. I began my day fairly stressed because I had run my 4N group in Medway from 8am to 10am and thought I had lost my car key. I was effectively stranded (or so I thought). Thanks to Roselyn Knight of Borg Knight Solicitors and Andy Setterfield of The Hoodeners Horse, who stayed with me to look for it. To cut a long story short, I found the stupid key; in my bra! Yes, in my bra. If you want the...

I just bought a loaf of bread at Sainsbury’s

So you might wonder why I have written this post but it’s the slightly subversive side of me coming out that’s why! Whilst watching Socially Sally on her Livestream event on blogging, she challenged her viewers to write a blog post with a very inane title. The end result was this post. It actually reminds me of the sort of thing that people who are snooty about Social Media say such as “I don’t want to know what someone had for lunch” or “I don’t care where someone’s going for dinner”. Oh...

Posted by DeeVAS on Apr 29, 2010 in Technology | 0 comments

I bet you thought that I was going to wax lyrical on the difference between the above right? Wrong! Donate to my Hootsuite Trial – UPDATE!

Posted by DeeVAS on Mar 2, 2010 in Miscellaneous | 0 comments

It turns out that I don’t need to purchase the Hootsuite app for my iPhone after all! @Hootsuite have released a “Lite” version which has the same functionality as their paid for version. The only difference, (as far as I can see), is that you can only manage 3 Twitter accounts with it. So there, I don’t need your donations after all. What I would love for you to do though is to donate to Clic Sargent in memory of Carrie Louise Robe, much loved and never to be forgotten. Thank you my wonderful Twitter followers! PS. You...

Debating a move to Google Apps Premier

I currently have my main email address on a hosted Microsoft Exchange server. I pay over £70 a year for the privilege. I’m being driven by my “bottom” line and so have started looking at ways to cut this cost. I need the functionality of being able to sync my emails, contacts, calendar and tasks (not as important), OTA (over the air). I have several other emailaddresses i.e info@, accounts@, enquiries@ which are IMAP enabled accounts on my domain. I have been considering moving over to Google Apps Premier (GAPE) as it will...

Upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows XP?

Posted by DeeVAS on Nov 4, 2009 in Technology | 0 comments

Many people are rushing to upgrade to Windows 7. However many are not aware what awaits them  if they  upgrading from Windows XP and not Windows Vista. The first thing you should do is check whether your PC meets the minimum requirements to run Windows 7. You can do that here. I would recommend having at least 2GB of RAM if not more. Make sure that you do any hardware upgrades BEFORE you install Windows 7. The upgrade path is not simple. Windows 7 cannot be installed over Windows XP.  Instead, you have two options: Do a CLEAN INSTALL....
